This family is pretty special to my family. Loren and I met at summer camp on Vancouver Island when we were 14(I won't tell you how many years ago that was ;) Since then we've stayed connected and our kids have stayed connected...it is sooo fun to see them pick up where they left off just like we do. Thankfully, we have family in BC and they have family in AB but even so it takes an effort to make sure we stay in contact and let each other know when we are going to be in the area and then to make sure we have time for dinner etc. Some people aren't great at long-distance friendships and I have to admit, I'm not the best but technology makes it pretty easy these days people so no excuses...if the connection is there, nurture it! Let a friend know you are thinking about them...might make their day :)
